Surprise In A Small Town

Posted by Gendex News on Sep 27, 2012 12:33:00 PM

As we rolled into Bucyrus, Ohio for our last bus stop, heads were turning and people were asking questions about the 46ft. blue bus. The most this city had been known for is, George Peppard, the actor from the original “A-team” was from here; so many were anxious to spread the word. So if you can imagine, a small town, pouring rain, and a film crew to capture the moment, it was surely a sight to be had. Even the locals dining at the dive bistro were thrilled to hear that their very own dentist was about to win big. We can imagine in a city of less than 13,000, news travels fast, so we urged them to keep the news quiet just a few more hours.

Our covert option of keeping this last bus stop a secret was finally time to be unveiled as the team entered the office and the bus pulled up outside Oakwood Dental. Even the rain wouldn’t get in the way of the excitement that brought sunshine to the faces of the dentists and their staff as they made their way out to see the bus. They stood in the rain and watched as we set-up for them to come aboard. However, as our team walked off the bus with balloons and a large, Publisher’s Clearing House type check in hand, they still weren’t sure what was actually happening. It wasn’t until the words were spoken that they had won did they actually grasp what was going on. Their staff came out to join in the celebration just in time for us to explain all about their new office addition of the GXDP-700 Pan/3D Combo Unit.

The wife and husband duo of Oakwood Dental, Dr. Michelle and Attila Nagy, were not only surprised they were thankful. We all climbed aboard to let them “experience” their product first hand. “Did you all bug our home?” asked Dr. Michelle. “We were seriously just discussing the need for an upgraded pan, but were trying to make the one we had last for a bit longer. This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.”

Unlike thousands of other dentists around the country, this was the first time the Nagy’s had stepped aboard the bus and while it will be the last, it will not be forgotten. A product valued at $99,995 all for a sweepstakes entry is truly a lotto win. Dr. Attila described a time that he had won $850 on horse racing and said “that was the only time in my life I’ve ever won anything.” Though his lovely wife and partner corrected him quickly that she was quite a win too. Now his luck has changed and they were discussing a trip to Vegas! Everyone was in the highest of spirits as we discussed the “win”.

They already had the perfect spot in mind for where their new unit would go. As we went inside to see their office and learn more about their practice, it was obvious this new addition would make the world of difference for many patients. “We have many handicapped children who will benefit from the new x-ray machine. Even our seven year old daughter who has overbite issues will be helped,” explains Dr. Michelle.

“This couldn’t have happened to two more deserving people,” explained Mackenzie Richter, Henry Schein center manager. The Nagy’s are very involved in community outreach and have also made many contributions in time and energy toward a Ukraine based organization working towards bettering the lives of Hungarian children both in dental hygiene and overall well being.

After a year and a half of traveling, thousands of entries to the GXDP-700 sweepstakes and all of the big city stops, it was refreshing to see the very last stop taking place in a deserving small town to very deserving dentists. Rain or shine, this experience was one we’ll never forget.

Be on the look out for our finale stop video later this week! You won't want to miss the excitement.

Back in the Swing of Things!

Posted by Gendex News on Sep 14, 2012 12:32:00 PM

After getting the Experience Gendex tour back on the road last week there were more dentists excited to see what the bus had in store for them. The next stop was Ardmore, Oklahoma, September 11, a day to honor our brave.

Dental professionals in the heart of the downtown area welcomed the Experience Gendex Bus. Dentists were given a presentation on how getting precise and detailed digital images can better assist them with restoration and implant planning.

The hands-on experience of Gendex products and interaction gave better insights to the highest level of care that dentists want to offer to their patients.

The interaction was key as dentists saw the capabilities of the full line of Gendex imaging solutions, from intraoral sensors to CBCT imaging.

Turning the corner to our next stop was Wichita Falls, Texas at the Midwestern State University.

Gendex partnered with a dental non-profit, OKMOM, Oklahoma Mission of Mercy, to present the benefits of volunteering. OKMOM organizes two-day events providing dental care for those in need. It was great to see the passion and energy that the dental community demonstrates in helping those in need.

Both students and dentists took a look at our digital solutions showcased right on the bus. Students saw tools they would be using in the future and the great advances in dental technology.

As dentists jumped on board they saw the results of detailed images from digital sensors to Cone Beam 3D scans. Doctors saw the benefits and impact that dental imaging technology can have on patient communication.

These last two stops showed again the sense of community and service to patients that permeate the dental industry. Most of the questions that were asked were not focused on how can this help me, but how can it help my patient better?

Next Stop on the Experience: Anniston, Alabama. See you soon!

What Makes This Tour Special? Amazing Dentists.

Posted by Gendex News on Sep 10, 2012 12:31:00 PM

The Experience Gendex Tour is back on the road after a short summer break. The month of September is filled with exciting stops and events up until our last bus ride to the lucky dental office, winner of the GXDP-700 Pan/3D unit. On Thursday September 6, a sunny Sacramento welcomed the Experience Gendex Bus.

During our stop we had the chance to visit with several dental professionals. Learning about their stories, visions and daily work was another great testament of the dental community strong level of commitment in advancing dental health. Advancing their practice imaging capabilities fits right in the picture; no matter if it’s just about moving from film x-ray to digital sensors, or implementing the latest Cone Beam 3D capabilities into their practice and treatment process.

Supported by the products and interactive computer stations available in our mobile showroom, doctors got a hands-on, interactive demonstration of Gendex digital solutions: from intraoral sensors to CBCT imaging.

Our next stop after Sacramento was Reno, NV, just a 3-hour ride across the breath-taking Sierra Nevada. In Reno, we were so fortunate and honored to be welcomed by the dental staff at Sierra Smiles, the base of our stop in town. Sierra Smile is an amazing dental office, voted “Best Dentist in Northern Nevada” two years in a row.

It is not a surprise that the spa-like dental office also features our brand-new GXDP-700 Pan/3D x-ray systems, implemented in November of 2011. Dr. Manuel Tjoa was kind enough to share with us some of clinical cases he worked on in the last months, and show how 3D scans from the GXDP-700 are making implant planning faster and more predictable.

Next Experience Gendex stop: Ardmore, OK. See you all there!

Experience Gendex - It's Like Music To Your Ears

Posted by Gendex News on Aug 15, 2012 11:03:00 AM

 blog expgx header

The Experience Gendex Tour kicked off on August 8, 2011. The innovation aboard the bus and creativity surrounding the tour itself created a ton of hype over the past year. From dental schools, to tradeshows, to flash mobs, Experience Gendex has been marching to the beat of its own drum. And while the 46 ft diesel engine bus has a nice purr of it's own, we couldn't help but create a tune to match its already ground-breaking steps. With a simple jingle, we wanted to express what the tour is all about and give those who had participated a catchy lyric to remind them of their "Experience". You may have already heard the tune at one of our many events, but if you haven't had a pleasure of seeing the bus in person, hopefully this tune will put you in the "Experience" first hand.

Listen, but be careful it's called a jingle for a reason, you may catch yourself singing the lyrics on your ride home later.

EXPERIENCE GENDEX - LYRICS

The Show Isn't Over

Posted by Gendex News on Jul 26, 2012 12:30:00 PM

Imagine traveling 47,000 miles on a bus, sleeping in over 100 cities, a different hotel every night, and only seeing a family member once every other month. Sounds tough, huh?

On the flip side, imagine seeing the entire country over the course of a year, riding in a luxurious 46ft. bus, meeting new friends, learning a whole new industry, and visiting world famous cities and monuments. Not too shabby.

You just imagined the day in the life of our Experience Gendex tour manager, Ashley Wolf.

The tour manager lives a lifestyle unfathomable to most. But without her the tour would have been missing a key factor – a face. She greeted thousands of guests, saw many of them in multiple cities as they traveled to tradeshows around the country, and created a rapport unmatched by any. Rain or shine, no matter the unlikely event that had taken place earlier in the day, she was smiling.

Her smile will continue on as she heads into a very exciting time in her life; her wedding and honeymoon. We are so thankful for her hard work and dedication to the tour and couldn’t let her leave without letting it be known. I traveled to our latest event in Williamsburg to present her with a golden mini-bus. She was overwhelmed with emotion, knowing the journey of the last year of her life was coming to a close.

We wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors. Thanks for making the wheels go round.

But wait, the tour isn’t over! 6 weeks left of this monumental marketing campaign. We still have to travel across country once more, hitting every region to give doctors and staff alike their final “experience” aboard the rolling blue thunder.

Our marketing team is gearing up to hit the road to try the tour manager lifestyle first hand. We look forward to seeing you on the road for some exciting finale stops.

It Could Be Your Office - The Final Experience Gendex Bus Stop

Posted by Gendex News on Jul 23, 2012 10:56:00 AM

The Experience Gendex Mobile Tour is quickly coming to a close, but not before our final, exhilarating stop. In May, we gave Dr. William Poe a “touchdown” reaction as the 46-foot bus rolled into his dental office parking lot to present him with the GXS-700™ digital intraoral sensors that he had won in last year’s sweepstakes.

This time, we can only imagine the energy that will invigorate our last stop as another lucky doctor in the USA realizes that he/she has won the new Gendex GXDP-700 Pan/3D complete with imaging and implant planning software - a package valued at $99,995. We are on the edge of our seats as we approach the drawing date. You still have a chance at winning this incredible product if you enter by August 1, 2012. Enter today before missing your opportunity to be the overjoyed recipient.

Our newest extraoral innovation is a fully upgradeable 3-in-1 Pan, Ceph, and 3D unit. If your practice is in need of a 2D Pan, and your future development plan encompasses the use of a Cephalomteric or Cone Beam 3D unit, this might be the perfect product for you. Along with its ability to transform from 2D Panoramics to Cephalometrics to 3D, the GXDP-700™ Series gives clinicians dependable image capture of a wide variety of radiographs. These images are valuable for diagnosis and treatment planning of caries, root investigation, orthodontics, implants, and other surgical procedures, as well as patient education.

We hope to meet you as we drive up to your front door with your brand new unit come September. When we are back on the road, you can track us live at ExperienceGendex.com

Keep in mind, Gendex is always here to provide a solution that suits you best. So even if you are not our lucky winner this time, be on the lookout for our top-notch product line. www.gendex.com

Farewell

Posted by Gendex News on Jul 11, 2012 12:29:00 PM

After riding and working on the Gendex bus for countless hours and 47,593 miles over the past year, my time as the Marketing Tour Manager of the Experience Gendex 2011-2012 North American Mobile Tour has come to an end. The bus will take a mini summer vacation during the month of July and half of August. During this time, I will marry my longtime sweetheart, enjoy a honeymoon in a tropical paradise, and start a new career with Dentaltown Magazine (http://www.dentaltown.com/).

I have been blessed to be a part of the Gendex family for one incredible year, contributing to the Gendex team in such a unique capacity. And while self-motivated, I credit my fiancé, my family, and my fabulous Gendex team, particularly those in the marketing department, for inspiring and encouraging me to persevere through my year-long duration of Gendex tour work.

Gendex first introduced me to the dental industry, a close-knit family-like community. The dental community has become like a family unit that I now can hardly imagine being separated from.

Meeting and learning about the various companies and technologies in dentistry has been a grand adventure. It has truly been an honor representing Gendex, a reputable company that has been developing cutting-edge digital imaging equipment for over 100 years! (http://bit.ly/nsy93k) If I were a dentist, my office would surely be decked out in Gendex equipment!

Matt, the bus driver, has said that he has “married the road.” He loves the adventure that lies around every turn in each new city, as do I. I absolutely love to travel for work and will certainly miss many aspects of our “Road Warrior” lifestyle, but I am looking forward to living day-to-day life alongside my husband while contributing to and growing with a new team of people based in an office less than 10 miles from my home in Arizona.

I hope that you will wish me luck in my new roll with Dentaltown and support me as I pass forth the baton of Gendex road life. Perhaps we will bump into each other at a future dental meeting!

Be sure to be on the lookout for the new roadies.

It has been an honor!

"Wild" Emotion

Posted by Gendex News on Jun 29, 2012 12:28:00 PM

Centennial, Colorado had requested our presence for Friday evening. To get there from Albuquerque, New Mexico, we had to drive north on Interstate 25 right through Colorado Springs where the worst wildfires in Colorado’s history were still ablaze. As we approached the area nearest the fires, the dark, smoky air was a visible and pungent reminder of the devastation caused by those ravaging wildfires. Driving through area looked like this:

While we worried about attendance because of the fires just south of us, the event turned out nicely busy nonetheless. Gendex Rep Sean O’Hara had his hands full with doctor after doctor, so busy that he had not realized the sun had set, or that his stomach was grumbling for dinner until nearly nine o’clock!

As the event came to a close, I noticed some grumbling in my own tummy, but it was not from hunger. I was flooded with emotion as this event would be my very last on the Experience Gendex Tour. I’ll share more with you on that topic in my next blog, but needless to say, I was glad Sean made a great event out of the final June bus stops.

It's A Name You Can Trust!

Posted by Gendex News on Jun 27, 2012 12:27:00 PM

When we arrived in Albuquerque, we were greeted with over 100-degree heat that left no doubt that summer has arrived in full force! We met up with Gendex Rep Justin Dickson for an evening event with one of our dealer partners Tuesday evening. The high temperatures were no match for the sizzle that our event created among our bus visitors!

Nine bright-eyed dental students came on board and immediately swarmed the GXC-300™. Their school does not own an intraoral camera, and the students voiced their desire for this helpful tool to be added to their school’s operatories since it helps with diagnosis and treatment acceptance, and patients love to see what the dentist sees.

After the dental students, we were visited by a husband and wife dental duo who are already fans of the Gendex brand and eager to include GXS-700™ digital intraoral sensors and the GXDP-700™ digital extraoral panoramic unit with 3D. The husband still uses a previous version of our current Gendex digital sensor in his California-based office and is considering adding two size-2 GXS-700™ sensors in his new office that is under construction in New Mexico.  He said that his brother has GXS-700™ sensors, and that he could not be happier with his choice to incorporate them into his practice because he, his staff, and the patients love them!

A current Gendex owner dropped by to learn about our newest product line. This doctor said Gendex products have always been an important part of his practice. “It’s a name you can trust.” He said he loves the clarity of images and is looking to expand his treatment options more into endodontics, so a 3D panoramic unit definitely would help. (http://bit.ly/vRNSds)

Justin is a former KaVo handpiece Rep so he is knowledgeable on handpieces and digital imaging equipment, which helped him to run his first event like a pro!

Our last stop, before the bus starts a 6-week summer vacation, takes us to the Centennial State, better known as Colorado. See you there!

Old Bay Seasoning

Posted by Gendex News on Jun 21, 2012 12:26:00 PM

Maryland beckoned us for our next stop. We spent Thursday at a dealer office in Elkridge, Maryland. Our outstanding onboard crew for the day included Gendex Rep Bo Sutch, KaVo Rep Robert Salem, and Pelton & Crane Rep Scott Fraser. Then crew covered many topics of interest to our dealer guests from how to operate our 3D pan to how to clean KaVo handpiece turbines.

When the doctors arrived, our team switched from training mode to engaging in very helpful and informational conversations with the new guests to best serve their interests. We’ve surely got an excellent crew to serve your digital imaging, dental chair, and dental handpiece needs! Here’s a video recap of the event:

Now for some delicious Maryland trivia! Maryland is also known as the Land of Old Bay Seasoning! I know this, not because we had a one-day stop in the state, but because I lived in Maryland for 1-1/2 years as a young girl and remembered Old Bay Seasoned potato chips as one of my favorite Maryland treats! The seasoning’s name was inspired by a steamship line that traveled the Chesapeake between Maryland and Virginia, and over the years, Old Bay Seasoning became a legend. (http://www.oldbay.com/) Now generally, I skip the higher calorie foods, including potato chips, but these was a rare snack that I just could not miss out on.

We’re headed out West to New Mexico and Colorado for our next few events. Next stop Albuquerque, where I’ll be in search of some Hatch Green Chili!
