As we rolled into Bucyrus, Ohio for our last bus stop, heads were turning and people were asking questions about the 46ft. blue bus. The most this city had been known for is, George Peppard, the actor from the original “A-team” was from here; so many were anxious to spread the word. So if you can imagine, a small town, pouring rain, and a film crew to capture the moment, it was surely a sight to be had. Even the locals dining at the dive bistro were thrilled to hear that their very own dentist was about to win big. We can imagine in a city of less than 13,000, news travels fast, so we urged them to keep the news quiet just a few more hours.
Our covert option of keeping this last bus stop a secret was finally time to be unveiled as the team entered the office and the bus pulled up outside Oakwood Dental. Even the rain wouldn’t get in the way of the excitement that brought sunshine to the faces of the dentists and their staff as they made their way out to see the bus. They stood in the rain and watched as we set-up for them to come aboard. However, as our team walked off the bus with balloons and a large, Publisher’s Clearing House type check in hand, they still weren’t sure what was actually happening. It wasn’t until the words were spoken that they had won did they actually grasp what was going on. Their staff came out to join in the celebration just in time for us to explain all about their new office addition of the GXDP-700 Pan/3D Combo Unit.
The wife and husband duo of Oakwood Dental, Dr. Michelle and Attila Nagy, were not only surprised they were thankful. We all climbed aboard to let them “experience” their product first hand. “Did you all bug our home?” asked Dr. Michelle. “We were seriously just discussing the need for an upgraded pan, but were trying to make the one we had last for a bit longer. This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.”
Unlike thousands of other dentists around the country, this was the first time the Nagy’s had stepped aboard the bus and while it will be the last, it will not be forgotten. A product valued at $99,995 all for a sweepstakes entry is truly a lotto win. Dr. Attila described a time that he had won $850 on horse racing and said “that was the only time in my life I’ve ever won anything.” Though his lovely wife and partner corrected him quickly that she was quite a win too. Now his luck has changed and they were discussing a trip to Vegas! Everyone was in the highest of spirits as we discussed the “win”.
They already had the perfect spot in mind for where their new unit would go. As we went inside to see their office and learn more about their practice, it was obvious this new addition would make the world of difference for many patients. “We have many handicapped children who will benefit from the new x-ray machine. Even our seven year old daughter who has overbite issues will be helped,” explains Dr. Michelle.
“This couldn’t have happened to two more deserving people,” explained Mackenzie Richter, Henry Schein center manager. The Nagy’s are very involved in community outreach and have also made many contributions in time and energy toward a Ukraine based organization working towards bettering the lives of Hungarian children both in dental hygiene and overall well being.
After a year and a half of traveling, thousands of entries to the GXDP-700 sweepstakes and all of the big city stops, it was refreshing to see the very last stop taking place in a deserving small town to very deserving dentists. Rain or shine, this experience was one we’ll never forget.
Be on the look out for our finale stop video later this week! You won't want to miss the excitement.
